A Little History

The most important thing is the beginning.
In December 1989, I wrote the first article on candlestick charting, which was met with great interest by readers in the United States. As it turned out, at that moment I was one of the few Americans familiar with the ancient technique of Japanese candlestick analysis. Then I published more articles, gave many presentations, organized training courses, and gave interviews in various states. At the beginning of 1990, a booklet was published with short excerpts from my dissertation "Graphical Methods of Market Analysis". Despite the fact that it contained only basic information about Japanese candles, the booklet also proved to be very popular: over the next few months, the investment bank Merrill Lynch, acting as a publisher, received more than 10,000 orders for it.
